AxxMUPS - Alternate Technology in the form of Immediate Release and or Modified Release

Application area: Alternate Technology for Oral delivery of one or more Drugs in the form of Immediate Release and or Modified Release Multiple-Unit Pellet System (MUPS). The advantages of this system when compared with simple tablets or capsules is reduction of irritation of the gastric mucosa due to drug degradation of simple units and offers the possibility to administer incompatible drugs together due to the multiparticulate system

• The Multiple-Unit Pellet System (MUPS) comprises of Core – Coat technology either in the form of Immediate release Pellets (Uncoated) and or Modified Release Pellets (Coated) compressed into Tablets and suitably coated.
• Immediate Release Pellets comprises of drug layered on to the inert core like Sugar / MCC spheres or Drug itself forms the matrix core.
• Modified Release Drug Pellets comprises of Immediate Release Drug Pellets coated with either one or more pH dependent Polymers (For Site specific Delivery in GIT) and or pH independent hydrophobic Polymers (For delivering drug across GIT)
• These Multiple-Units (uncoated or coated pellets) are blended with desired cushioning excipients and then compressed into tablets which allows modified drug release.
